Templates Library Overview

The Templates Library serves as the central hub for managing and organizing your assemblies and parts, including the starter packages provided when you first sign up. Within the Templates Library, you can customize assemblies, adjust pricing, and oversee the overall management of your templates. This guide covers key aspects of using the Templates Library, including how to access it, navigate its structure, and utilize the starter packages.

Accessing the Templates Library

Opening the Library:
To access the Templates Library, open the Estimating dropdown on the left-hand side of your screen and select Templates Library. Here, you'll find all your assemblies and parts stored and managed.

Understanding Starter Packages

When you first access the Templates Library, you’ll find three Starter Packages:

  • Square Takeoff Starter Package:
Designed for detailed material takeoffs, this package includes assemblies for precise material calculations.

  • Square Takeoff Metric Starter Package:
Similar to the Square Takeoff Starter Package but formatted in metric units, this package is tailored for metric-based measurements.

  • Basic Measurements:
This package is ideal for straightforward tasks like calculating square footage and assigning a cost per square foot.

Navigating the Template Structure

Templates and Folders:
Templates are organized into folders for easy navigation. For example, the Concrete folder may contain subfolders for different types of concrete work, such as footings or slabs.

Assemblies:
Assemblies are represented by icons indicating the type of measurement (linear, area, or count). To view or edit an assembly, select the edit button next to it.

Parts:
Parts are the core components of the Template Library, serving two key functions:

  • Cost Management: Storing your cost data, markup, and pricing information.

  • Formulas: Parts preform calculations using the QTY formula. The starter package is constructed of industry-standard formulas. Customizing parts and formulas enables you to calculate new materials, labor or equipment, etc.

Creating and Customizing Templates

Use the Starter Packages as a foundation to create your own templates, folders, assemblies, and parts. Customize your folders and assemblies to meet your specific needs, ensuring your Templates Library is organized to best suit your projects.
