Overview

This guide will walk you through creating a super assembly or combination assembly using the Templates Library. A super assembly combines multiple components into a single assembly, such as adding drywall, paint, and trim to an interior wall assembly.

Key Steps

Access the Templates Library

  1. Open the Templates Library:

    • Go to the Estimating tab on the left side of the screen.

    • Access the Templates Library, which serves as your database for assemblies.

  2. Explore the Library:

    • Navigate through the available templates to find the starter package that suits your needs.

Create a Super Assembly

  1. Select the Starter Package:

    • Open the Square Takeoff Starter Package.

    • Go to Framing Starter Pack and select Interior Walls.

    • Choose the 2x4 Interior Wall Assemblies.

  2. Create a Combination Assembly:

    • Decide what additional components you want to include, such as drywall, paint, and baseboard.

Add Components to the Assembly

  1. Add Drywall:

    • Find the Drywall folder within the Standard Linear Assemblies.

    • Select the drywall type (e.g., 4x8 sheets) and height (e.g., 8 feet).

    • Duplicate the drywall parts to avoid altering the original starter package.

    • Drag and drop the duplicated drywall parts into your assembly.

    • Adjust the properties: Set Number of Wall Sides to 2 for interior walls.

  2. Add Paint:

    • Locate the Paint folder in the Painting Starter Pack.

    • Choose the paint type and Duplicate the part (e.g., 5-gallon buckets).

    • Drag the duplicated paint part into your assembly.

    • Adjust the properties: Set Number of Coats to 2 and Number of Wall Sides to 2.

  3. Add Baseboard:

    • Access the Finished Carpentry folder.

    • Choose a Base Trim type (e.g., 5 1/4 base trim) and Duplicate it.

    • Drag and drop the baseboard into your assembly.

    • Adjust the properties: Modify the Waste Percent if necessary to account for both sides of the wall by using the formula writer to double the linear footage.

Save and Finalize the Assembly

  1. Save the Superassembly:

    • Save your newly created assembly as a template for future use (e.g., "Interior Wall Combo Assembly").

  2. Review and Adjust:

    • Ensure all parts reflect the accurate measurements and quantities for your project needs.

    • Check the assembly for any further adjustments or errors.

Review and Manage Costs

  1. Check Material Quantities:

    • Review the material quantities and estimates in the Estimate Report tab.

  2. Adjust Costs and Markup:

    • Adjust costs and markup in the Parts Catalog before finalizing the assembly.
