Drywall Takeoffs

Learn to run your first Drywall Takeoff!

Step 1: Select a Template

1. Choose a drywall takeoff template.

2. Identify the wall height.

You have two template options:

  • Standard Linear

  • Wall Area (Linear Wall Area)

Both produce the same result, but the wall height is set in different steps.

Step 2: Configure Template Settings

1. Click the green button to begin setup.

2. Depending on your template:

Linear Wall Area

  • Enter wall height.

  • Select the number of wall sides.

Standard Linear

  • You will set wall height later in the Parts section.

3. Set the line thickness (this only affects how the line appears on screen).

Step 3: Go to Parts

1. Click Save and Go to Parts.

If Using Standard Linear:

  • Each part includes a wall height variable.

  • Click the “+” icon next to each part to adjust the height.

For All Templates:

  • Set the number of coats.

  • Adjust the waste percentage as needed.

  • (Optional) Add cost and markup:

Click the “+” icon next to each variable.

Costs are typically entered per sheet, per roll of joint tape, and per 5 gallon bucket of joint compound.

2. Once all settings are complete, click Save and Close.

Step 4: Perform the Takeoff

  • The measuring tool will start automatically.

  • Trace the walls on your plan.

Doors and Windows:

You can either:

  • Measure straight through them, or

  • Measure around them manually.

If measuring around openings, adjust your waste percentage accordingly.

Step 5: Finish Measuring

Press Escape on your keyboard or click Stop to end the takeoff.

Step 6: Generate Reports

1. Navigate to Reports → Estimate.

2. Review calculated quantities, including:

  • Drywall sheets

  • Tape

  • Joint compound
