What is Manual Distance?

  • The "Manual Distance" tool allows you to create precise linear or area measurements by inputting specific values. Although it's not frequently used, there are situations where it comes in handy. A common scenario would be using the Manual Distance tool to input measurements that were previously documented on-site at an existing structure, lot, or other locations.

How to use Manual Distance

Step 1: Begin with an area or linear takeoff measurement/assembly

Step 2: Left click to set your first point you would like to set a manual distance from.

Step 3: Go to "Tools" and select "Manual Distance".

Step 4: Type in the degree and the distance in ft. and inches.

  • Degree Field Notes: The degree setting determines both the orientation and direction of a line, following a standard protractor. Here’s a quick reference:

    • 0 degrees: Horizontal, pointing left

    • 90 degrees: Vertical, pointing up

    • 180 degrees: Horizontal, pointing right

    • 270 degrees: Vertical, pointing down

Step 5: Select the green check mark to set the manual distance

Step 6: Repeat this process for all manual distances.

Manual Distance Pro Tips:

  1. Additional Variation. You can set manual distances from previously applied measurements. Simply engage node mode by double clicking the measurement, select the node you would like to set a manual distance from/between and engage the manual distance tool.
